The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved

This song by the Script is about a severely broken hearted man who girlfriend has left him and he does not know where she has gone, because of this he has returned to where they first met in hope that if she realises that she has made a mistake that she will return to the exact same place as well. we know this from the lyrics and the facial expression. In this picture you can see that he is depressed and troubled. This particular shot relates back to Goodwin's theory that suggests that the lyrics in the song relate to the visuals in the video. This theory is proven throughout the video as whenever the chorus is sung the lyrics quote "cause if one day you wake up and found your missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
And you'd see me waiting for you on the corner of the street
So I'm not moving
I'm not moving. this is shown time and rime again as in each chorus there is a short scene where he is singing or sat on the corner of the street while the seasons change showing that he will not me moved no matter how hard it gets. The setting and tone of the music video is very typical and follows conventions of heart felt indie songs. the different camera shots uses in this music video have been used because it represents the artist a certain way, The camera shot above represents the artist as depressed and confused we can tell this from his
facial expressions

however the conventions in a rap and dance videos are different. In a rap video it uses different techniques, this is because where most rap artists come from a deprived childhood they either rap about how fame has given them a better life and or how hard i was for them growing up. It is because of how the rapper shows himself to the audience that the audience feel that they can connect to them and relate to the problems that they have gone through there life. The way that the artist  relates to the audience is by constantly rapping to the cameras, it is because of this that the audience feels close to the artist.

  1. This post does not demonstrate any understanding of how different music genres use a variety of micro elements and this is because you have not completed your analysis and have only included a very minimal overview of the music video.
