research into music censorship

Ofcom is an independent communication regulator in which they regulate TV and radio sectors. They make sure that citizens of the UK get the most out of communication service. If it this organisation that is in charge of what is censored on the TV we watch today, this ranges from music videos to the news. http://www.ofcom.org.uk/about/what-is-ofcom/
1 main rap artist that has had many song and videos censored the infamous marshal Mathers or also know and slim shady, his music has been called disgraceful and revolting, however his fans refer to him as a lyrical genius and he has changed the rap game for ever. Whether you like or dislike the artist the is no argument that the language in his songs is very explicit and foul but people argue about if he his music should be censored or even banned. The reason for this is because many people believe that where he has many young fans they are easily influenced and will copy and do what Eminem does and says.
(quote): Follow me and do exactly what the song says
Smoke weed, take pills, drop out of school, kill people and drink
Jump behind the wheel like it was still legal

The quote above is just one sentence from one of his songs role model, so if this is the  telling kids to do in his song then there is no wonder why people think his music should be censored

Should music videos be censored?

 Yes
No

Young minors can be easily influenced by music so would feel the need to copy the artist In the video
Kids should not be taken as easily influenced

Artist are very explicit and set bad remodels for there fans
If words are censored the video does
not make sense

Some music is responsible for kids taking rugs and disobeying the law
They should be able to express what they feel in there songs

  1. This post demonstrates a basic understanding of music censorship and how it is used within the music industry and this is because you have not explored your points in enough detail. You have made a start in describing the purpose of Ofcom, but you have not elaborated on the debate points and have not discussed the various points in enough detail.

To make this post more detailed, you need to-
    1) Read over your notes and ensure that you have included further detail to show further understanding
    2) Include examples from the artist to support the points that you have made
    3) How will you follow the censorship rules within your own music video?
