Evaluation. question 3
Once I had finished my music video and had a near final product I was asked to publish it on youtube to receive feed back on the music video. The reason why feedback is needed is because it can help you continue to improve your music video by listening to what the public think of it and to see if your product does follow conventions of the particular genre I chose. Constructive criticism is them main reason for uploading my music video on to youtube because where it is a global web browser anyone around the world can easily leave a comment positive or negative on my video. I believe that my product could of used more improvement but did not know where to add the improvements so I used other comments left by people who had viewed my music video to see where and how i could improve my video to make it more appealing to the target audience.
After 3 months of my having uploaded my rough cut of my music video on youtube I received several comments, they were a mixture of positive and negative comments. I have taken what i thought to be the 2 most left positive comments and 2 most constructively critical comments.
positive:
As a media producer the positive comments made me feel like I had complete the task I had been given and that it was a successful music video other than the negative points that were made clear to me which later resolved thought editing.when looking through the comments made by the audience and reading that there were issues with the music video which I would have to fix.
when receiving the negative feedback i immediately took it on board as i knew that there would be some negative points about it as to make a near perfect music video it takes many attempts and better editing soft where and equipment to make it to a professional standard.
If I was working in the music industry then using the feedback I received from my music video i would know to look for any defects in the video as even the slightest misplaced object in the setting can cause the video to look unprofessional and even through cause the audience to lose there attention in the music video. I now also know that there is always room for improvement and that external feedback is important as different people can offer you new ideas and can help tell you where your videos weakest shots or scenes are.

positive:
- The narrative of the music video was very clear and easy to follow and was kept well in timed with the music video, the shots and scenes also were a good visual aide as they related to the lyrics of the song at the right time.
- The video followed both conventions of not only a dance music video but also a indie genre.
even though this comment was short it still made the point that my music video followed and challenged the conventions of both genres of what my choice of song came under.
negative:
- In your music video I noticed that some times that your main artist was out of time of the music and she made gestures that did not make sense in the music video
- The music video started of slow and was not did not immediate attract my attention until the drop of the song. in a music video it is important that you immediately grab the attention of your audiences so they do not lose interest in your music video and refrain from watching it as it has a slow start that is hard to get into
After reading these comments it was clear that the main problems were not easily resolved, for mr to be able to resolve the first issue it would mean having to re film some shots to make it more in time with the song and also to let my main artist that she would have to make sure she does not make any gestures that do not go in sink with the music video.
I tackled the second problem by making the intro stand out more by using lighting effects more in the start of the video and then carrying them on throughout the rest of the video.

Evaluation. Question 1
For part of my A2 media coursework I was asked to create a music video that followed the conventions of a chosen music genre of my choice. The song I chose was Ellie Goulding`s you my everything which comes under a indie pop/dance genre.A music video is a short film including a song and imagery, they are normally produced for promotional or artistic purposes. in today's media music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings
A music video is a video that runs the length of the song and is normally in sink and connected to the song. normally they are visual aids to held with the understanding of lyrics of the meaning behind the song.
In each different genre of music are different codes and conventions, this is to appeal to their target audience. each different genre of music has its own conventions because each different genre has a different tone and story behind it. If the genre is dance or pop it tends to be more up beat and feel good so the conventions that it will tend to follow will be that the artist will always be the centre of attention and the camera will always be focused on them. in Most rap videos the artist will be dressed in expensive outfits that are well known and labelled brands, this is shown in wiz khalifs paper bound music video as it shows him purchasing expensive cars or wearing designer clothes and expensive jewellery this is clearly shown at the beginning and throughout the music video as he is either rapping about having or wearing designer items. The majority of Wiz Khalifs music is up beat hip hop which will appeal to a target audience of about 17-24 as it is within theses age where the majority of people experiment with marijuana which is the what most of wiz khalifs songs are about. it is because of this constant use of the drug in his song that makes him appeal to the audience.
Common conventions of a dance video is that the video is themed around partying or clubbing scenes where the majority of dance music is played, Clothing is also used stereotypical with short skirts and heels which are typical clothes worn for nights out as well as the behaviour of the people in the video for example lots of dancing, jumping and in particular drinking. Similarly to pop there is a constant fun atmosphere in dance music videos as they are meant to be played when you’re having a good time and aren’t serious.

as my genre of song was indie pop it was difficult to follow the conventions of just one specific genre. The way I resolved this issue is I took 3 conventions from the dance genres to follow and 3 conventions from the indie genre to follow so I both challenged and followed conventions from each genre.
The three conventions I followed from the dance genre are partying/clubbing, drinking alcohol and clothing. In my music video I showed each one of these conventions at least twice but not receptively as i did not want it to follow the dance genre to closely and wanted to show a clear understating of the conventions between the two different genre. The conventions I used to follow an indie genre are having the artist preform in front of the camera, a narrative to tell a story typically about breakups in relationship and emotional story's about or involving the main artist and lastly Mies en scene which is used to help portray with the narrative as indie artists typically dress in very retro and unique clothes that shows Individualism. This shot shows the main artist at a party dancing and performing for the camera which are conventions of a dance genre and and indie genre This shot follows conventions from both genres |

Planning editing style
The reason why editing is so important is because it can help with the audiences understanding of the music video by adding more of a understanding to the story behind a music video, this can be achieved by using the use of strait cuts, this is where the camera changes from one scene to another and is commonly used in music videos because it is an easy and efficient way of changing the shot. if you need to quickly change from one scene to another
In our music video we have chosen 4 editing styles that we feel will be most effective for our music video. these editing styles are reverse imaging, colour filters, slow motion and strait cuts. the reason why we have chosen these four editing styles because they all have a major purpose in how they will create the effect we are looking for in.

group advert
For our group advert we have decided to go with connors second attempt because it looks the most professional between the both of ours. It also links in more with the themes that Connor have shown though the digipak and music video. I have gone for a more glamorous look for the magazine advert, this is so that it will drawn in a wider audience, this also has a strong dance theme look to it which links to the song. I have used the same font throughout which is also the same as the digipak and music video so that it all links and flows more easily together. I have used different colours of blue so that it sticks to her colour which I have given her so that when they see it they will straight away think of her. By makes the important information stand out with a bigger front and different colour this makes the audience remember these words more easily, which is what the artist and record company wants. with her showing off her body it makes the male audience more interested in her and makes girls idealise her. Once again her eyes are a main part of it with them standing out and cutting thought the darkness around her. Over all I think this is most affect because you are drawn in because she is looking at the audience making them want to read what the advert is about. I have also blurred out the background so she stand out much more . She looks flawless and it looks like she hasn't tried making the audience idealise her.
