Task 1:
Create a list of the ways in which people can consume music videos. Has this changed over the years?

Task 2:
Research into the music videos industry and consider how they have developmented and changed over the years. How has this affected the way audiences consume music videos?

Things to consider:
  • MTV (This was the first music channel)
  • Youtube (Most watch video)
  • Bugets
  • Technology/special effects
  • Target audience and the number of views a music video/channel receives
  • How have music genres developed over the years?

The music industry have made it incredibly easy for people to consume music videos whether they be new or old videos due to an increase of technology.

Originally the only way that music videos were watchable were on music channels such as MTV which was the first Music channel that was launched on the 1st August 1981. since then there has been an increasing rise of music channels on tv and on the radio.
It wasn't till the creation of youtube in 2005 where music videos of all genre were watchable and easily shared between friends across the internet. As youtube has evolved and it became more of a personal browser more youtube channels that were dedicated to only uploading  Music videos. This channel was called vevo that was created on the 8th of december 2009 and it supported almost every Musical artist from 1920s blues artist Robert Johnson to modern artists of all genre.

On youtube the most watched music video to date is a music video by south Korean singer PSY, His hit single gangnam style has reached over billion views from its release in 2012.
